Queens Park, Flushing

Went to Flushing the other day for a job interview and wandered around the park.
This is a weird park, it's got a lot of random things left in it from the World's Fair in NY. Needless to say, I love it.

How great is that? I espeically love how empty fountains become skate parks. Also, the scale is kinda skewed, but that globe is huge.

So many flowers everywhere! Spring here is really pretty, I'll give them that.

You have to walk on a bridge over a train yard to get to this park.

And this is the bridge where my interview took place. The door I had to "bang really hard, someone'll hear ya" to get into is on the left, hidden in the shadows.

Hey, remember that time I had to go to a job interview right across the street from the new Mets' Stadium on opening day. In a brand new stadium. Yah.

I actually turned down tickets to a Mets' game the other day. I love baseball, I just think it would break my heart if the only baseball game I got to go to this summer was a Mets game. I'd rather go to none.

My dad has mad tea packing skillz, y'all.

There are so many flowers and trees in my neighborhood. I never really noticed how many untill they all started to bloom. It's wonderful.

Good train karma. An Easter miracle?

Forcing my burnt Easter cookies on a poor, unsuspecting, sick Jo. They would have been ok if TV Land wouldn't have started a 3rd Rock from the Sun marathon. That show great! Anyone would forget about cookies!

I finished my Easter watching The Muppet Show and eating burnt cookies with Jo.

Fun with cooking: my Bisquick cook book

Impossibly Easy Chicken and Broccoli Pie.
Sounds easy and yummy.
Step one: go to grocery store and buy ingredients.

Hmm, I don't like onions that much. Instead of one whole onion I'm going buy one of those plates of veggies that has some onions in it.
Step two: start cooking. Put ingredients in pie plate. Wait, what? I don't have one of those. Meh. Can't be too important.
Still step two: So the broccoli is supposed to be thawed? Eh, too bad. Wait, the chicken is supposed to be cooked already. That I should probably do. Hey it'll give the broccoli time to thaw!
Step two point five: cook chicken. Add lots of Cayene pepper.

Step three: in medium bowl stir remaining ingredients untill blended. Two bowls later I figure out how big they mean by medium. By blended did they mean get rid of those lumps? Too late now! I don't know if this is gonna work.

Step four: bake 30-35 mins. 45 mins later, I remember I'm cooking and go check on it.

Hey it turned out ok!!! Yummy!!
Step five: Eat!


Next up: I burn my Easter cookies by watching 3rd Rock from the Sun.

tea and rainy days

Here's my new apt from the outside. Mine's door on the left, second story, and my window is on the side you can't see. But yah, it's a cute place.

Here's my room at twilight. How perfect is that lighting? Couldn't have focused it better if I tried.

Since I don't need the extra caffeine to get me thru 20 hour days anymore, I've tried switching back to tea, which I like more anyway. So far I'm drinking about 4-7 cups a day. I think maybe I need to invest in a teapot. But hey, my new roomie is doing the same thing, so between the two of us we are starting quite the tea collection.

Also, stop sending us your bad weather Missouri!! Everytime it starts to look pretty here I talk to someone back home about how it's ugly and raining/snowing/hailing and sure enough, that bad weather hits us about a day and a half later. New Yorkers promise me it gets unbearably hot here soon enough, but I'm starting to wonder...

The posters have just been sitting around, apparently, so we hung them. I think they look nice.

St. Louis Sketches

Went to Byrant Park today to sketch and get a little sunshine. I ended up drawing a couple of pictures of stuff from STL so I thought I'd post it.

T-Rex from the Science Center. This one was just for fun, but it's giving me second thoughts on the Edward R. Murrows t-shirt I'm (supposed to be) making. Perhaps a t-rex one would be better.
