I had my first visitor to San Fransico! My dear friend Melinda came to see me, on a train from LA. She stayed for 5 days and we had so much fun. Luckily for me Melinda is laid back, because I am a horrible tour guide. I'm getting better, but I still don't know my way around the city that well. But we still had a lot of fun, and it was fun for me to explore the city with someone else.

It was very cold in the water. Very cold.

Melinda trying to stay warm. The wind at the wharves is killer.

Lost in the wilderness of Golden Gate Park. Also I'm not posing, I was really pointing something out.

I'm not even sticking my tongue out or anything.

That's a mini doughnut I'm eating.

That was the easiest tree I've ever climbed.

Day 4: Little Day on the Prairie

Day four we drove through Kansas. We both enjoyed the open fields, bright sunny day, and all the leftover chicken to eat. Wonderful.

We had a lot of fun at rest stops.

Feast.

The Colorado Welcome Center!! It never changes...

Turns out, Nick does not like it when you throw snowballs at him, which did not stop me from doing it a few more times. And yet he still didn't leave me on the side of the road. What a guy!

Mountains!

These pictures do no justice to how beautiful it was driving into Denver that evening. But we made it to Denver! And then we spent the next hour parked in a giant van in front of a stranger's house, generally looking creepy and waiting for Caitlin's plane to land.

This is me, creepily playing my mandolin by streetlight.

Day 3: Home!

The start of a trend. While Nick spent the whole trip getting good fortune cookies, I only got bad ones.

We made it to Kansas City! And we got to spend the night with Madeline!

No we did not mess with Nick while he slept. He really sleeps like this.

Truth.
